Yanukovich’s airplane accompanied by Russian fighters

The Ukrainian ex-President came to Rostov-on-Don for a press conference on the evening of February 27.

Victor Yanukovich’s airplane was protected by Russian fighters, UNIAN reports. It landed at a military airfield in the north-west part of Rostov-on-Don. It is not clear where exactly the plane came from. The press conference will start at 4 p.m. FET on Friday.

Victor Yanukovich claimed that his presidency was legitimate in Moscow on February 27 regardless of the fact that the Verkhovna Rada had divested him of authority. Alexander Turchinov, speaker of the Parliament, is the acting Ukrainian President now.

Yanukovich is charged with murder in Ukraine and is wanted by Interpol.
