Belarusian military attache withdrawn from Poland due to espionage for Russia?

A military attache of the Belarusian embassy to Poland was asked to leave the Polish territory. The Internal Security Agency (Agencja Bezpieczeństwa Wewnętrznego, ABW) proved that in his activity the man had stepped out of the bounds of a diplomatic mission.

According to wyborcza.pl, the Belarusian military attache was caught when he was taking pictures of military facilities in Bydgoszcz. It was a NATO training centre, radio TOK FM specifies.

'There was too much breadth in his behaviour,' Polish officials told dziennik.pl

Belarusian and Russian intelligence services are believed to be closely cooperating. It is no doubt that Moscow received the information through Minsk, Polish officials say.

The other spy whom it was reported about yesterday had been detained much earlier.

He fell into hands of the Polish military intelligence service two years ago and was accused of espionage. Since that time he has been in custody. Only a few persons were privy to the case; but after the indictment appeared in court, more details have been revealed.

The Polish side held him as a source in Belarusian secret services and paid him hundreds of thousands of dollars for 'insights' about the Belarusian army.

'But he turned out to be a disinformer,' one of the investigators said. The information provided by the suspect was properly studied. As the time went on, it became clear that the 'valued' agent worked for the Belarusian secret service.
