More than half of Belarusians believe that the suspension of individual entrepreneurs’s work affected their well-being.

The March survey of the Independent Institute of Socio-Economic and Political Studies showed that this opinion is supported by 54.2% of Belarusians. The rest said that their purses were not affected by the entrepreneurs’ suspension of operations.

Most of all the situation with SPs affected the well-being of people with a monthly income of less than a living wage. About 72% of those who are below the poverty line said that the suspension of SP’s activities affected their family budget, as they had to buy the goods at higher prices than usual.

“Minskers and residents of regional centers do have alternative to flea markets, but in the small towns it is difficult. Conflict of the state with the SPs became a severe blow to the budget of the three-quarters of the most vulnerable segment of the population,” noted the authors of the survey.
