Several defendants in Chyzh case released from KGB jail

They had pre-trial restrictions changed for cooperating with the investigation, BelTA learned from head of the Belarusian KGB press service Dzmitry Pabyarzhyn. Their names were not made public.

Businessman and director of the “Triple” company Yury Chyzh was detained on 11 March. He is accused of committing a crime under Part 2 of Art. 243 of the Criminal Code of Belarus (evasion of taxes and duties on a large scale).

Five people were arrested with him (among them – Edmund Tyshkevich, Chyzh’ deputy for Economic and Financial Affairs). At a press conference held on March 15, the KGB Chairman Valer Vakulchyk reported that Yury Chyzh, on learning about the searches in the office, tried to flee abroad in a car. Chyzh is facing up to seven years in prison.
