Wheelchaired person faces eviction from flat in Sveltahorsk
Wheelchaired civil activist Yury Lyashenka faces eviction from his temporary flat in Svetlahorsk after officials from the communal housing services have gone to court. The disabled man says he is refusing to leave the flat because life in his block of flats is unbearable

The major repairs started in 2012 were conducted with numerous violations and the block remains not barrier-free. People have returned to four flats out of eight. The others cannot come back. There are problems with bathroom equipment and fire safety. The Public Prosecutor’s Office is conducting a check-up in the block of flats now. Nevertheless, officials demand that the disabled man return to his own flat.

Lyashenka ran for MP as a member of the Greens, naviny.by reports. He links this pressure with his political activism.
