Former CEC secretary Mikalai Lazavik dead at 65

The death was caused by serious illness.

Mikalai Lazavik was born in 1951 in the village of Nevinyany in Vileyka district, Minsk region. In 1972 he graduated from the Belarusian Institute of Agricultural Mechanization, in 1993 – from the Belarusian State University, in 2000 – from the Academy of Management under the President, in 2003 he finished postgraduate studies at the Academy of Management. He had a PhD in economic sciences.

Earlier, Mikalai Lazavik was a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the 13th convocation, he also was a member of the commission on state construction and local self-government. He was the CEC secretary since 2000. He was released from the job on October 17, 2016 for health reasons by presidential decree.

Mikalai Lazavik died on 5 November, 2016.
