Latvia to build wall at Belarus border
The Latvian authorities have decided to build a wall at Latvia-Belarus border to stop illegal migration. Money for the project is earmarked in the state budget of 2017, head of the Latvian Border Security Normund Gabars said. There is a similar project at Latvia-Russia border, DELFI reports.

The constitution may start in a year. The wall will be built at some places at the border but its length has not been defined yet. A 3-km wall has been built at Latvia-Russia border this year. It will protect the country from illegal migrants. The first part of the wall was built on the territory of Ludzinetsk department.

The minimal height of the wall will be 2.7 metres. Latvia is planning to build 92 kilometres of the wall in different parts of the border.
