Minsk police decide to take action against “panties intruder”
Minsk police have started an investigation about a candid photoshoot that took place in Victory Square in Minsk. Police said that they had received several complaints about the pictures of a girl who posed half-naked in front of the WWII monument in the city centre.

In the middle of November Minsk police spokesman Alexandr Lastovski posted a provocative photo on Facebook asking if the girl should be punished or forgiven.

The post caused a heated discussion and a lot of mixed opinion.

The media soon found the girl and the photographer. It transpired that the model Violetta Atayeva, 21, often takes part in many photo shoots, including rather bold ones. The one in question was actually done in summer and early in the morning when there were no people in the streets.

Lastovski later deleted the post and thanked everyone for their opinion. However, the story got a continuation.

On Wednesday, November 23, the spokesman told the media that police started an investigation into the case. It’s not yet known who is the defendant in the case – the model, the photographer or both. Most likely the defendant will be accused under Article 17.1 “Disorderly conduct” of the Code of Administrative Offences.

The punishment in this case involves a fine of 2 to 30 basic amounts (at present 1 basic amount is equal to 21 Belarusian rubles, or about $11 – note) or an administrative arrest. Whether or not there’s been a crime is up to the investigators now.

Alexandr Lastovski added that the case was started before he posted the picture on Facebook.
