Belarus Cybersport Federation wants to organize the first national eSports championship in 2017, the federation’s head said at a press conference on 28 February.

The federation was officially registered at the end of 2016. The owners of computer clubs and experts in the organization of gaming events are among its founders.

“We want to develop full-scale active electronic sports movement here, similar to the one existing in other countries”, the chairman of the federation Denis Bogush said.

Creators of Belarus Cybersport Federation hope that Belarus will eventually join IeSF, the International e-Sports Federation, that currently lists 47 member states.

Among other plans of the federation is the lauch of the national e-Sports championship and carrying out student leagues. The venets are planned for the second half of 2017. The organizers hope that every region of Belarus will be represented by about 150 students.

The titles played will include World of Tanks, CS: GO, Dota 2. Preliminary rounds will be played online, while the grand final will take place in Minsk.

“Cybersport events bring real money”, Denis Bogush said. “People come to the country and bring money. When StarLadder (the international final of championship in Dota 2 and CS:GO, took place in Minsk in January 2016 – note) was held, we booked two hotels to the full.”

Creators of Belarus Cybersport Federation said they hope for state support, but consider their organization to be quite self-sufficient, including in terms of finance.
