Belarusian chapel in London wins prestigious architecture award

The wooden Greek Catholic chapel of Belarusian community in London won NLA2017 People's Choice award.

The chapel was shortlisted in three categories: sustainability Ashden Prize, Culture & Community and People’s Choice. Public voting determined the winner of the latter.

The chapel was opened in December 2016 in memory of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster victims. The designer Tszwai So from Hong Kong moved to London in 2003 and studied arcitecture in Cambridge. He later developed interest in Belarus and joined the Uniate religion (Greek-Catholic Church).

Earlier, the unusual chapel was receognized as one of the most energey-saving buildings in London.
