Homiel customs officers sent the Bible for examination.

The old book found among the things of a Belarusian woman, who was traveling by the “Kyiv — Mazyr” bus. Due to the book’s appearance, the customs officers sent the Bible for examination, press service of the State Customs Committee reports.

Customs laboratory expert has confirmed that the Bible was made at the end of the 18th– early 19th century, and, accordingly, is a cultural value. On top of the original edition there was glued a hand-made leatherette cover.

Yellowish pages are soiled and damaged, some are absent. Improper storage conditions can lead to the complete destruction of the book, and as a consequence, to the loss of cultural heritage, believe the Customs Committee experts.

The Bible has been seized and administrative process launched.

The State Customs Committee recalls that prints created 100 years ago and more belong to the category of cultural values ​​and are subject to customs declaration in writing using the passenger customs declaration.
