Belarusian receives French human rights award

Belarusian human rights defender Leanid Sudalenka has been awarded the 2018 “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity” Human Rights Prize of the French Republic, the human rights website Viasna reports.

The National Consultative Commission on Human Rights has congratulated the laureate on his victory and invited him to the award ceremony that will be held in Paris on December 10. The prize will be awarded by Minister of Justice Nicole Belloubet and President of the non-governmental organization CNCDH Christine Lazerges. A meeting will also be organized in the French Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

The French Embassy to Belarus has joined in congratulating the laureate. Ambassador Didier Canesse has personally invited him to exchange opinions over dinner.

The French National Consultative Commission on Human Rights awards five human rights organizations or defenders from all over the world for their contribution in the human rights defense every year on December 10.
