Someone Terrorizes Minsk With Bomb Threats: Hotels, Malls, Business Centers Evacuated On Monday

Guests of five hotels in Minsk woke up to evacuation because of bomb threats on Monday, 19 August. Bomb threats were also sent to at central railway station and Minsk airport. In the late afternoon, evacuations began in major shopping malls and a business center in the downtown.

Morning bomb reports were fake.



Two hotels in Minsk turned to the police at 8 am regarding bomb threats they received via e-mail. Later similar reports came from several more hotels, as well as the central railway station and the National airport Minsk.



The sapper and investigative groups sent to locations have not found any explosives. Altogether, Monday morning evacuations across the city affected around 2000 people. A criminal case has been started.



In the late afternoon, the local media have reported evacuations in shopping malls Galleria Minsk, Galileo, Dana Mall, Stalitsa, as well as business center Rubin Plaza, located in Minsk downtown. New evacuations are reportedly linked to new bomb threats.

“Organizations in Minsk keep receiving messages with threats,” the spokesperson for the Belarusian Interior Ministry reported. “In this regard, law-enforcement officers are taking extra security measures. Investigative groups are working in malls, hotels and other facilities.”
