COVID-19 Update: Number Of Coronavirus Cases In Belarus Reaches 81
As of 23 March, 81 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported in Belarus, the press service of the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry reports.

As many as 22 patients have already been discharged or are getting ready to be discharged.

Two days ago 76 cases of coronavirus were reported in Belarus, 15 patients were discharged from medical institutions. It turns out that in two days only five new cases were revealed in the country.

Earlier they tested positive for COVID-19, but after treatment their tests came back negative. Another 59 people are under medical observation and getting treatment. One of them display moderate symptoms but with positive dynamics.

Another case of coronavirus infection was detected in two people in Gomel oblast. There is one patient with confirmed COVID-19 infection in Grodno, over 40 people with confirmed infection were in Minsk and 30 in Vitebsk.

41 cases were imported from abroad, others got infected in the country. In total there were one foreigner and 80 Belarusians who got infected. The first patient with coronavirus in Belarus was diagnosed on 28 February.



The average age of patients with COVID-19 in Belarus is 15 to 49. The maximum number of cases has been registered in this age group. The oldest patient is 78 years old, the youngest is three years old, the child was in contact with his mother.

To date, over 21,000 tests for COVID-19 have been performed in Belarus. The testing started on 23 January. Belarus is among the top ten countries in terms of the number of tests performed.

About 1,100 were first-level contacts of the COVID-19 patients are now isolated, 8,800 people are confirmed as second-level contacts. Recall that Belarus didn’t declared a national quarantine.
