300+ Foreigners Apply For Extension Of Stay In Belarus Beyond 90 Days
Over 300 foreign visitors who got stuck in Belarus because of closed borders and cancelled flights, have applied for an extension of their stay beyond 90 days.

“So far, more than 300 foreign citizens have asked us to extend their stay in the country beyond 90 days,” said Head of the citizenship and migration department at the Internal Affairs Ministry Aleksei Begun.

Among the applicants are nationals of the near and far abroad. Another 100 people are those who have arrived in the Grodno and Brest oblasts to spend their holidays in Belarus.

On 18 March, the Minsitry of Internal Affairs reported that foreigners in Belarus can extend their period of stay to 90 days and if necessary, beyond this period.

“At present those arriving at the airport (using the visa waiver) can extend their stay in Belarus from 30 to 90 days,” the official noted.

He stressed that this applies to people who are allowed to stay in the country for up to 90 days in line with bilateral agreements provided they are registered with a local migration office.

Recall that in July 2018, the period of visa-free stay of foreigners was increased to 30 days, provided that they entered they come through Minsk National Airport.

For citizens of a number of countries with which Belarus has a visa-free regime, the permitted period of stay in the republic, if registered with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is up to 90 days a year.
