The European Commission's press-center has informed this on March 21.
It is stated in the message that the European Commission "will increase direct support of the Belarusian civil society four times within the time period since 2011 till 2013".
The Commissioner responsible for enlargement and European neighbourhood policy Štefan Füle will supervise the work on organization of financial support from the donors' side.
"This support will go to the Belarusian non-governmental organizations, independent media and students who suffer from the regime's repressions. Apart from this, ?1,7 mln was collected for urgent help to the victims of repressions", — the European Commission's press-center has noted.
