In Belarus, to be lightened candles in memory of the dead from AIDS

Thematic Action "Candle of Memory" will be held in Belarus on 20 May - International Day in memory of people who died from AIDS.

During the campaign will be held arts exhibitions, television and radio programs, memorial services and other events dedicated to HIV / AIDS, the press service of the Ministry of Health informs.

May 19, 2012 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in the parish of the church of Our Lady "Joy of All Who Sorrow" will be a thematic sermon, the choir, designing and the consecration of the place of memory.

In Belarus, currently live 10,608 people with HIV. Antiretroviral therapy are getting 3487 people. In the world at the beginning of 2012 HIV-infected population was more than 35 million people, about 25 million have died.

Memorial Day theme of this year was called "Together to Promote Health and Dignity" - meaning to provide all people in need living with HIV with treatment, care and support, to implement more effective methods of prevention, respect their rights. Treatment of HIV infection slows the development of epidemics, allowing people living with HIV, to improve the quality of life, to be socially active and reduces the risk of HIV transmission.
