76 Belarusian citizens asked for political asylum in Switzerland in 2009. A Swiss portal "Our Newspaper" informs about it.
The majority of applications of CIS citizens in Switzerland came from Russia. However, only 45 appeals were satisfied. 90 applications were sent by citizens of Armenia (1 affirmative reply), 19 – by Azerbaijanis (7 affirmative replies), 29 – by Ukrainians, 15 – by citizens of Kazakhstan, 15 – Uzbekistan and 1 – Turkmenistan.
The whole number of people who asked Switzerland for political asylum in 2009 totaled 16 thousand 5 people. 2 thousand 622 appeals were satisfied.
