The hearing of criminal cases against the Vaukavysk entrepreneurs Mikalay Autuchovich and Uladzimir Asipenka will be open, informed the Prosecutor General of Belarus Ryhor Vasilevich at the press conference on 20 January in Minsk.

According to him, there were no other decisions regarding the nature of sittings of the court.

The Prosecutor General declined to answer the question about a possible judicial prospect of the case against Vaukavysk entrepreneurs. He noted that the investigation had been conducted by the agencies of the Interior and the decision on the case would be taken by the court. According to Vasilevich, the main supervisory authority of the country did not have any comments on the investigation.

As a spokesperson of the Supreme Court said to BelaPAN, the date of the hearing had not yet been determined by the Court, though the materials were being examined. Whether hearings will be open or closed will be known along with the date of the first sitting of the Court.

The entrepreneur from Vaukavysk (Hrodna region) Mikalay Autuchovich, Jury Liavonau, and Uladzimir Asipenka were detained on February 8, 2009. On February 18 they were charged under Art. 218 of the Penal Code. June 23 legal proceedings were instituted against Autuchovich and, according to the Interior Ministry, "other persons" under Art. 359 of the Criminal Code (terrorist act) in the form of preparation (Article 13). November 20, Asipenka and Autuchovich were charged with preparation of a terrorist act. August 8 Liavonau was released from Minsk detention centre, and on 24 September he was acquitted of all charges.
