National Bank is afraid of the dollar's sharp rise in October
National Bank of Belarus is going to carry out fx currency interventions in October at an extra session of the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange, said the chairman of the NBB Nadezhda Ermakova.
"National Bank hasn't carried out interventions so far. I think we can hold out for some time. But, most likely in October, in order to avoid the dollar's sharp rise, we will have to do these interventions", said the head of the NBB.
"However, we can do the interventions at the expense of what we were able to additionally accumulate over the past two months", said N. Ermakova, speaking at the National Council of Republic on Monday.
Chairman of the NBB informed, that for two weeks at an extra session of the Stock Exchange, the National Bank had bought $103 million, which were sent to foreign currency reserves.
