Trading on the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange on Tuesday, November 29, resulted in strengthening of the Belarusian ruble against the dollar. Thus, on November 30, the rate was set at Br8.6 per dollar, while on November 29 - Br8.64.
Russian ruble rate has not changed at the auction - Br275. Euro, by contrast, has risen from Br11.470 to Br11.480.
If to compare the rates, the dollar turns out to have been falling for more than a week. November 17, the dollar rate was set at around Br8.760 at the auction. Such a rate was kept until Monday, November 21. In total, the dollar has depreciated by Br160 since November 21.
What year-end dollar rate is going to be?
According to head of the National Bank Nadezhda Ermakova, the dollar exchange rate should not exceed Br7-8 thousand by early 2012.
However, independent experts do not agree with the chairman of the central bank in Belarus. For example, economist Yaroslav Romanchuk believes that if the authorities don't tighten monetary policy and "don't turn off the money printing press", the year-end ruble rate will exceed Br10 thousand per dollar.
