According to the results of Sundays referendum, 95.7% voted for Crimeas joining Russia. But only Moscow and Pyongyang have recognised its legitimacy.

The voters turnout reached 83%, the Crimean authorities report. The referendum was being held under the surveillance of Russian militants who had occupied the peninsula.

In Sevastopol pro-Russian citizens were waiting for the results in the central square. Most of them had started celebrating the victory before the results were announced.
